In Chapter Two, the SWOT analysis is defined in several different ways by authors attempting to describe how strategy look by the terms of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Being a woman who loves fashion, I found that I related to the article written by Jeanne Liedtka, “Strategy as a ‘Little Black Dress.’” A Little Black Dress (LBD) is simple, basic and pure which is exactly how a strategy should be viewed when determining the SWOT analysis. LBD is simple and elegant in design and is “achieved not when nothing else can be added but when nothing else can be taken away.” With that said, the LBD is left incomplete. The LBD can stand alone but is never complete, just as strategy. A strategy can stand alone but can be added to by the strengths and opportunities that are present. Strategy (or the LBD) is simple in an elegant way.
